The Unexpected Start to the Journey: Heading to Haneda Terminal 3
Hey there, it’s CityNomix! How do you spend your time at the airport before a flight?
Today, I am heading to South Korea on a business trip from Haneda Terminal 3.
I am flying with JAL. Unfortunately, I am in economy class this time. However, since I am a JAL Global Club member, I can fully enjoy the JAL Lounge before departure.
When I arrived at the airport and checked my bags, the staff gave me an unexpected suggestion.
“The usual Sakura Lounge is quite crowded today. Therefore, please use the Sky Lounge on the 5th floor,” they said.
I wondered, what is the Sky Lounge? It turns out they meant the ‘JAL Sakura Lounge SKY VIEW’, located right above the regular Sakura Lounge.

Because it is not directly connected, you need to take the escalator or elevator to get there.
However, a short trip is definitely worth it if a spacious and uncrowded area with a great view awaits you.

Looking at the elevator directory, the logos of various airline lounges are proudly displayed.
Just seeing this sight raises the excitement level for the upcoming journey. It truly feels like an elevator leading to a secret base for adults.

Stepping into the JAL Sakura Lounge SKY VIEW: A Modern Japanese Hideaway
Upon arriving at the 5th floor, I headed towards the lounge entrance.
A beautiful sign illuminated by indirect lighting and wooden louvers was waiting for me there.

When you step inside, the first thing that surprises you is the sheer size and tranquility.
Moreover, while looking at the floor map, I discovered something quite amusing.

The word “Copy” in the center of the map was covered with tape.
It seems the atmosphere of business has faded, transforming the space into a place of pure relaxation. Seeing this trace of the lounge’s history made me smile.

Outside the window, the runway is dyed in the beautiful twilight of the blue hour.
On the other hand, the interior is lit with warm indirect lighting, creating a calm and peaceful flow of time.

Wooden vertical lattices gently partition the space, producing a comfortable modern Japanese atmosphere.
However, there is one thing you must note here. This Sky View lounge actually does not have shower rooms.
But don’t worry! You can still book a shower room and simply go down to the Sakura Lounge on the 4th floor to use it.
Specifically, you will need to check in again when you go to the 4th floor. Therefore, never forget to carry your boarding pass with you.

The Pre-Flight Toast: Perfect Chills and Charming Typos
After securing a seat, it is time to head to the beverage corner.
Enjoying an elegant drink before departure is undoubtedly the best part of the lounge experience.

Inside the perfectly polished refrigerator, colorful juices and beers are neatly arranged.
Right next to it sits an automatic draft beer server. Just imagining this mechanical ritual makes me incredibly thirsty.

As you move further inside, you will find a thick, transparent glass bowl filled with plenty of ice.
Inside it, bottles of sparkling wine and Japanese sake are chilling beautifully.

Here, I must share a major discovery that I absolutely loved.
While looking at the wine list in this sophisticated space, I noticed a charming little mistake.

The English name of the white wine proudly declares, “Because, I’m Riesling…”. However, the Katakana right below it reads “Chardonnay”!
Furthermore, the grape variety is listed as 100% Chardonnay. So, which one is it? It is a brilliant, funny contradiction.
Encountering such an endearing error in a perfectly designed space is wonderful.
As a result, my tension completely melted away, and I instantly fell in love with this place. Of course, I ordered this “self-proclaimed Riesling Chardonnay”.

A Feast of Desires: Famous Beef Curry and Global Buffet
Once your thirst is quenched, it is time to satisfy your stomach.
The buffet counter offers a wide variety of delicacies, including Japanese, Western, and Chinese dishes.

First, let’s charge up on vitamins at the vibrant salad bar.
The crisp lettuce and tangy marinades really stimulate the appetite.

At the hot food section, you will find chicken in tomato stew and crispy french fries.
Moreover, there is even a vegan soy cream pasta available. This thoughtful update perfectly reflects the mood of today’s era.

Of course, there are plenty of traditional Japanese side dishes for those who prefer them.
The sweet rolled omelet and burdock root with the scent of dashi broth are incredibly comforting for your stomach before a long trip.
Finally, here is my completed “plate of desires”.

The star of the show is undeniably the famous JAL signature beef curry.
The combination of the deeply simmered spicy roux and an ice-cold draft beer is simply the best.

Quiet Moments Before Takeoff: Coffee and Sweet Temptations
When you are full, it is time to enjoy a post-meal coffee.
The dedicated counter is equipped with an authentic coffee machine and a rich selection of teas.

Inside the acrylic case, flaky apple danishes and caramel muffins are neatly lined up.
Drawn by the sweet scent of butter, I couldn’t help but reach for one.

Enjoying a sweet pastry along with a warm cappuccino is heavenly.
This small luxury, an extension of everyday life, quietly heightens the excitement for the journey.

This lounge is like an air pocket where the ordinary switches to the extraordinary.
With delicious food, a bit of humor, and a comfortable atmosphere, I highly recommend designing your own “journey’s prologue” right here.
Bonus: In-Flight Entertainment on a Plate
After a wonderful time in the lounge, it was finally time to board the plane.
The in-flight meal served high in the sky was also quite entertaining.

A croissant paired with fried rice, topped off with a matcha dessert.
This chaotic combination, which you would never choose in daily life, is the lovable entertainment known as in-flight dining.
