Chasing the 2027 Reunion: Digging for Oasis Bootlegs at Disk Union Ochanomizu

Verdict: With the 2027 tour announced, Disk Union Ochanomizu is Tokyo’s best hunting ground for Oasis bootlegs. Wardour’s high-quality CDs are the prize — a ¥10,850 price tag made me gasp on announcement day.

How to find them, how to read the price tags, and my “thought it was a limited edition” mistake — all documented. For the market at large, see the reunion-bubble report from Tower Records Shibuya; for my previous dig here, the rare-finds edition.
Visited September 15, 2026 — the day the tour was announced.

At 12:00 AM JST on September 15th, the highly anticipated Oasis 2027 live tour was officially announced. Even after rushing to complete the ticket registration, a restless energy continues to build inside me. To channel this overwhelming excitement, I found myself heading straight to Disk Union Ochanomizu under a cloudy sky that somehow perfectly mirrored the heavy, gray atmosphere of Manchester.

Looking up at the familiar red logo. The cloudy sky evokes the spirit of Manchester.

Looking up at the familiar brick-style tiles and the iconic red “disk union” logo, the contrast between the green street trees reflected in the windows and the concrete building caught my eye. Pushing open the heavy door, the distinct scent of old paper mixed with plastic hit my nose, signaling the entrance to an endless journey of record digging.

Discovering Rare Finds: Why Disk Union Ochanomizu is a Goldmine

My first stop was the new release CD section. Occasionally, brand-new bootlegs slip into the shelves, making this an essential checkpoint. As I flipped through the cases, a Stone Roses title immediately grabbed my attention.

Although it came with an enthusiastic handwritten note from the staff, they were not my target today. Leaving with a slight sense of reluctance, I headed straight to the used post-80s CD section. Scanning the imported shelves carefully, two specific titles quietly waited for me, radiating an undeniable presence.

Reflecting the fluorescent light, the thick plastic case holds a piece of real history.

The first was ‘DEFINITIVE AMSTERDAM 2005 PRE-FM MASTER’, a masterpiece produced by Wardour, a legendary bootleg label from Nishi-Shinjuku. The “B+” condition rating on both the cover and the disc hinted at the real history of hands it had passed through to get here. While the price tag of 2,950 yen was surprisingly reasonable, its true value lay inside.

Liam’s iconic profile and a tracklist filled with mid-era anthems.

The tracklist featured mid-era anthems like “Lyla” and “The Importance of Being Idle.” Using a Pre-FM master source, it entirely avoided the compression typical of radio broadcasts. Consequently, it delivered an ultimate soundboard quality comparable to official live albums, capturing Liam’s vocals in prime condition.

The ‘LIMITED EDITION 167’ sticker strongly stimulates the desire to collect.

If you want to enjoy top-tier sound effortlessly, this is the title to grab first. Furthermore, right next to it, I pulled out ‘DEFINITIVE WEMBLEY ARENA 2008 2NIGHTS’. This was another private press by the Wardour label, offering a different but equally compelling experience.

The hefty weight of a 4-CD set and a perfect condition rating build anticipation.

Holding the thick plastic case under the white fluorescent lights, the hefty weight of the 4-CD set was unmistakable. The pale green price tag reading “Condition A” took my breath away. The fervor of the two-day Wembley Arena shows in 2008, just before their breakup, was sealed within this box.

The back cover was packed with later tracks such as “The Shock of the Lightning” and “I’m Outta Time.” It guaranteed high-quality stereo soundboard audio, perfectly balancing power and presence. Considering its historical value and volume, the mid-4,000 yen price point was an absolute bargain.

The countless scratches on the plastic case exude the unique scent and history of used records.

The quiet thrill of pulling these two titles from countless spines is exactly why physical digging is unmatched. The underground heat that only unofficial bootlegs possess is irresistible. Without hesitation, I secured both and moved to the vinyl section with a heavier shopping bag.

The Thrill of Vinyl: High Prices and Unexpected Surprises

Stepping into the vinyl floor, the dusty smell of paper and vinyl grew even stronger. First, I checked the post-80s new arrivals. Flipping through the jackets with my fingertips, a bright vermilion label caught my eye.

The vermilion label sitting in the center of the black vinyl tells the story of 90s acid jazz.

It was a Jamiroquai 12-inch single. The moment I held it, a light step played in my mind, but for some reason, I put it back on the shelf. The creeping regret of “I should have bought it” later on is an endearing spice unique to physical store digging.

Oasis Go Let It Out 12-inch vinyl
Pulled from the Oasis divider, the 10,850 yen price tag is breathtaking.

Refocusing, I headed straight to the main Oasis section. I spotted the 12-inch of “Go Let It Out” and pulled it out with anticipation, but my eyes were naturally drawn to the yellow price tag. At 10,850 yen, a record that used to be much more accessible has now transformed into a premium item over 10,000 yen. It was a moment to physically feel the heat of the current culture in real numbers.

Noel Gallagher solo 12-inch vinyl on the shelf
Feeling the texture of the jacket through the vinyl cover, wondering if it’s a limited edition.

Glancing down, I noticed Noel Gallagher’s solo works quietly lined up. The history the brothers have walked is seamlessly condensed into this narrow shelf. Finding a sealed 12-inch of ‘Holy Mountain,’ my fingers stopped instantly.

The honest yet sinful note ‘Cannot check vinyl color due to SEALED state’ ignited my desire.

The price sticker in the top right indicated it was unopened, rated “Condition S.” Moreover, a very Disk Union-esque note stated, “Cannot confirm the vinyl color as it is SEALED.” The faint hope that it might be a limited color vinyl sparked my restless desire, and I tucked it under my arm.

The small sigh of realizing it was a standard edition after rushing home to open it.

However, upon returning home and opening the shrink wrap, I was greeted by a familiar black standard edition. I could not help but let out a wry smile. Still, even this slight miss is part of the blissful moment of digging in a physical store relying solely on intuition, without spoiling the fun by searching on a smartphone.

Britpop Rivals and Cassette Tapes: Completing the Dig

Swimming through the sea of records, I unconsciously found myself digging through the shelf of their eternal rivals, Blur. It is an undeniable instinct of a UK rock fan. I pulled out their origin, the debut album ‘Leisure’ on vinyl.

Holding it up to the store’s lighting to check the condition, the unique weight of analog transmitted through my fingertips. Meanwhile, the price tag showed an exquisite setting just slightly above the fair market value. Having already secured two premium bootlegs, this was a slightly heavy additional investment.

After a quick mental calculation and a few seconds of conflict, I decided to gently put it back.

After a few seconds of internal debate, I left a little lingering regret and gently returned her to the densely packed sea of records. This ritual of “hesitating and putting it back” is essential, making today’s fruitful harvest feel even more real along with the faint dustiness left on my fingers.

The final ritual before heading to the register, a chaotic collection of cassette spines.

Walking toward the register with a satisfied face, I performed the final ritual of patrolling the used cassette section. A slightly dusty yet nostalgic smell unique to magnetic tapes seemed to drift from the plastic cases. Sliding my gaze to the right, an unfamiliar red package jumped into view.

It was a Disk Union original blank cassette tape. While muttering internally that 990 yen was a bit steep, the copy on the red POP reading “Good sound transcends eras” synced strangely well with my current mood, restless with anticipation for the 2027 tour. Today, I will leave the store with a sense of satisfaction. Once home, a night of elevating this enthusiasm with the ultimate sound quality awaits.

Oasis Bootleg CD Wardour: Comparing Releases in Tokyo

When comparing Oasis bootlegs during a used CD dig, paying attention to the label is crucial. Bootlegs produced by “Wardour,” a long-established label in Nishi-Shinjuku, are particularly highly rated among Oasis maniacs. As seen with the Amsterdam Pre-FM master and the Wembley stereo soundboard recordings I acquired, they often guarantee quality that rivals official releases. If you spot the Wardour logo while digging in Ochanomizu, I highly recommend securing it immediately.
