Hello, fellow explorers. It’s CityNomix.
Under the clear blue sky of a crisp December Tuesday, I found myself walking through Maihama. Working in digital marketing often leaves me craving a touch of magic to balance out the data-driven days. So, I took advantage of a weekday to visit Tokyo Disneyland.
My mission for the day was simple yet crucial: to reunite with a flavor I adore. I was on the hunt for the legendary Spicy Smoked Chicken Leg.

After the Haunted Mansion: A Craving Hits
The morning highlight was undoubtedly the Haunted Mansion “Holiday Nightmare.” Seeing Jack Skellington hijack the mansion never fails to spark my creative inspiration. You can read my full detailed review of that experience here (Haunted Mansion Holiday Nightmare Review).
However, after partying with the ghosts, reality hit hard in the form of hunger. And not just any hunger—I needed that specific spicy kick.
Why Plaza Pavilion Restaurant?
When people think of chicken legs at Tokyo Disneyland, the Teriyaki Chicken Leg usually comes to mind. While delicious, it lacks the punch I was craving. The Spicy Smoked Chicken Leg is typically the icon of Tokyo DisneySea. I never visit DisneySea without grabbing one (and a beer) at the Yucatan Base Camp Grill (read my DisneySea food guide here).
But did you know? According to my research, there is exactly one place in Tokyo Disneyland where you can find this savory treasure: the Plaza Pavilion Restaurant in Westernland.
The Queue Strategy: An Insider’s Tip
There is a catch, however. Plaza Pavilion Restaurant does not accept Priority Seating (reservations) and does not support Mobile Order. You have to do it the old-fashioned way: wait in line.
Don’t let the queue scare you. Here is the CityNomix strategy: Target the parade times. While most guests are distracted by the parade, the restaurant lines tend to shorten. Plaza Pavilion has a lovely outdoor patio that is remarkably close to the parade route.
Furthermore, if the line splits into two, I recommend sticking to the left line. The right side often leads to seating areas where guests linger longer to watch the parade, making table turnover slower.

Finally getting my hands on that chicken leg, paired with a cold draft beer, was pure bliss. The juicy meat and smoky aroma are unmatched. It is a culinary experience you shouldn’t miss.
Plaza Pavilion Restaurant: The Complete Guide
To help you navigate your visit, I’ve compiled essential information based on what travelers frequently ask.
Plaza Pavilion Restaurant location
The restaurant is located in Westernland. If you walk from the central plaza in front of Cinderella Castle towards Westernland, you will find it on your right, just past the bridge. It is an elegant, white Victorian-style building.

Plaza Pavilion Restaurant menu
The star of the show is the Spicy Smoked Chicken Leg set. They also serve classic western dishes like hamburger steaks and seasonal specials. For families, there are child-friendly plates. And for adults, they serve alcohol, including beer and wine, which pairs perfectly with the smoked chicken.
Plaza Pavilion Restaurant interior
The interior is designed to resemble a late 19th-century American residence. It features high ceilings and a spacious dining area. The outdoor patio is particularly pleasant on sunny days. At night, the lighting creates a romantic atmosphere with views of the illuminated castle in the distance.
Plaza Pavilion Restaurant hours
Operating hours generally follow the park’s schedule, opening shortly after the park opens and closing a bit before the park shuts down. To avoid the lunch rush, aim for an early lunch around 10:30 AM or a late one around 3:00 PM.
Plaza Pavilion Restaurant closure
Be mindful of the “Last Order” time. The restaurant does not stay open until the very last minute of park operations. If you plan to eat dinner here, go early, preferably before the evening parade, as lines can get cut off if it gets too busy.
Plaza Pavilion Restaurant reservations
As mentioned, reservations are not accepted here. It is first-come, first-served. This can actually be a lifesaver on days when all other reservable restaurants are fully booked.
Plaza Pavilion Restaurant wait time
On average weekdays, expect to wait 30-45 minutes. On weekends, it can exceed an hour. However, since it is a cafeteria-style service (you pick up food on a tray as you move along), the line moves relatively steadily.
Plaza Pavilion Restaurant renovation
While the restaurant has undergone renovations in the past, it is currently open and welcoming guests in 2025. However, Tokyo Disney Resort frequently schedules maintenance for its facilities. Always check the official website for the latest closure information before your trip.
Conclusion
Choosing to eat the Spicy Smoked Chicken Leg at Disneyland gave me more than just a full stomach; it gave me a sense of satisfaction. The convenience of no reservations, the prime location near the parade route, and that nostalgic taste make Plaza Pavilion a must-visit.
I hope this guide helps you enjoy a delicious moment in the Kingdom of Dreams and Magic.
